Dear Friends who have ABI/TBI brain injuries, If you are seeking information and referral, peer support, networking, education, etc. or you are interested in brain injury advocacy, we recommend you join one or more of our Facebook groups (as indicated below under Facebook groups.) Befriend Sabisue (Brain Injury Network affiliation shows on her profile) and explain your interest. She will be able to help you join a Brain Injury Network group on Facebook. However, we do recommend that Facebook users be very careful on that platform, Please see further detail about some Facebook issues we have noticed.
You may also LIKE our official page or any of numerous community pages we have on Facebook. We don't recommend you post on Facebook pages, but they are there to review information. Instead of posting on pages join private or secret Facebook groups.

In all cases we recommend that you set privacy controls to protect your confidential and personal information on any web site or social community on the Internet. We are actually one of the few organizations that recommends that you not share your story on open (third-party-accessible) web sites and communities. FACEBOOK GROUPS
Important notice: Please make sure that you look over your privacy settings when you are in Facebook. Set the privacy settings to protect your own privacy. The defaults on Facebook and other places generally allow for a great deal of sharing of your content and information to third parties. You can overrule these settings and opt for more privacy. We recommend that you do so.
We have a TBI Network - Brain Injury Network page on Facebook which links to support groups we have on Facebook and also links to some other activities of our network. Please log on to your Facebook account and search for TBI Network - Brain Injury Network in the Facebook search box to access that page as it is a good way to access our groups on Facebook. There is a red poppy flower on the page.
Additionally, you can access a specific Brain Injury Network Facebook group by logging in to your Facebook account and searching for the particular group by name. Using the key phrases below in the Facebook search box is a way to see the great variety of groups that are on Facebook. We recommend that before enrolling in a particular group on Facebook you at the very least investigate if the group is a public, private or secret group. We recommend that for security's sake you join only the private or secret groups. (But you also want to assess groups in other ways, for example, you want to see who operates the group and try hard, try very, very hard, to only select groups that appear to be trustworthy, although there is no guarantee about the merit or motives of groups that are on the Internet. Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is for people who have sustained some kind of acquired brain injury from such causes as aneurysm, anoxic or hypoxic brain injury, brain illness, brain toxicity, stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc. This is a support group and includes chat. Survivors only. Search the term on Facebook to locate the group. The picture for the group is red poppies.
Acquired Brain Injury Requiring Assistance (ABIRA) on Facebook is a support group for people who have sustained an acquired brain injury (which includes traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxic injury, etc.) who need assistance using the computer to be online. This group includes chat. Survivors and family caregivers only. It is expected that a family caregiver will be the one to ask to join the group. This group is not open to the public. To apply for this group, please befriend Sabisue (Brain Injury Network affiliation shows on her profile) and explain your interest in joining this particular group.
